Parent’s Checklist
Over the last 22 years I've been teaching music to kids, one of the most popular questions I get is
“What is the best age to start music lessons?”
BELOW IS YOUR CHECKLIST TO HELP FIND OUT IF YOUR CHILD IS READY FOR MUSIC LESSONS
✅ Your child sings along to different songs, tries to use wooden spoon to bang on pots and pans,
✅ Your child bobs head up and down, claps along to music, pretends to play guitar.
✅ Your child can recite the alphabet from memory.
✅ Your child knows the difference between his/her left and right hand
✅ Your child tries to use different fingers to play the piano.
✅ Your child can sit still for at least 5 minutes.
✅ Your child is ready to start reading first chapter books.
✅ Your child can count to ten on his/her fingers.
✅ Your child can wiggle each finger independently.
✅ Your child can hold and manipulate a pencil fluidly.
✅ Your child tells you he/she wants to take music lessons.
If you can’t say yes to all the items in the checklist, you can still get your child involved in learning music. We have options that are suitable for younger children that may not quite be ready for private lessons.
